Another real pearl of Campania is theseductive and beautiful Amalfi Coast. Calm and majestic Napoli, capital of the region, raises in the middle of the gulf and it has a singular background, the famous Vesuvio volcano. The vibrant centre of the city is characterized by architectural layers built in different historical periods. Head to Vomero, a hilly neighborhood of Napoli and enjoy the amazing view on the arterial road, the so called “spaccanapoli”, then have a walk through the heart of the city and lose yourself in the real local life by admiring the picturesque corners and smelling freshly washed clothes and coffee aroma coming from the historical shops. You can’t miss visiting piazza del Plebiscito to admire the sumptuous colonnade and the wonderful Royal palace.
Eating a real neapolitan pizza, thin in the middle and thick on the boards, can be seen as too much mainstream, but I don’t think you will be able to withstand the delicious taste of the Bufala dop mozzarella that slowly melts on your pizza where some basil leaves give flavour to the symbolic dish. Another highlight is of course the neapolitan ragù, made of soft meat and fresh tomato sauce that boil together to originate a perfect seasoning for lasagne and spaghetti. Don’t forget to try the local patisserie: sfogliatella, pastiera napoletana e babà, just few among the most important desserts of the tradition. The fresh wine of the surroundings volcanic area completely represent the excitement and the energy of the place: Fiano di Avellino, Greco di Tufo and Falanghina del Beneventano have to be tasted!
